Midwest Iron to host ‘2011 Push/Pull Powerbash’ powerlifting competition On Saturday, February 19, 2011 – Midwest Iron is hosting the “2011 Push/Pull POWERBASH” at the Holiday Inn, 4821 Oak Street in Quincy, Illinois. It is a powerlifting meet for people from around the country. “You may either push/pull, bench or deadlift, or all combinations. You can lift raw (with no equipment) or Single Ply (with professional equipment),” said Mike Moore, coordinator of the event. Moore is putting on the competition to promote the sport locally and get more people involved. “The sport has been good to me and I would love to get more people interested, especially young people,” Moore said. The competition is non-sanctioned. It is $50 for the first division entered and $15 for each additional crossover. To register, call (217) 779-6883 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Moore encourages those interested to pre-register. “We have to cap the event at 100 lifters, so it’s important to know how many people are planning on competing,” Moore said. QDOBA Restaurant in Quincy offers a free lunch the day of the meet to those who pre-register. Weigh-ins will start Saturday, February 19th at 8:30 a.m. At 10:30a.m., the First Flight will start. Flights will be posted after registration is done. Awards will be presented to best lifters in each division. “Trophies will be awarded to first thru third place. Best lifter awards will be awarded to the biggest push/pull total for Male, Female, Raw and Single Ply, Jr. Varsity (13-15), Varsity (16-19) and Open Class”, Moore said. The event is open to the public and spectators are encouraged to attend. “Instead of a spectator fee, we will be collecting donations to benefit the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge # 182,” Moore said. Midwest Iron is a private club for powerlifting and bodybuilding. It was founded in 1997 and continues to operate today under Mike Moore and David Krueger. Krueger is the 2008 Mr. Iowa Bodybuilding Champion and 2010 Powerlifting World Champion. He will be competing on Feb. 19. More information can also be found on the Midwest Iron Facebook Page
